HR Policy Urges Biden, Congress to Address Key Health Care Issues

HR Policy called on Congress and President Biden to expand access to affordable health care coverage and care, increase transparency, drive quality improvement, and foster innovation.

The letter to President Biden urges his administration to clarify that employers can broadly offer incentives to employees to get vaccinated, preserve and strengthen federal preemption under ERISA, improve access to quality mental health benefits, expand telehealth, modernize health savings accounts, and support the recent transparency in coverage and hospital transparency rules while minimizing regulatory and administrative costs.

The letter to Congress urges policymakers to provide a temporary safe harbor during the pandemic for ACA employer penalties and enact the Commonsense Reporting Act to provide employers a second, voluntary option for reporting ACA coverage, reducing compliance costs.

Outlook:  We look forward to working with Congress and the administration to support measures to expand access to affordable choices for high quality health care coverage for all Americans, in ways that do not disrupt or penalize employer-sponsored coverage.
